Cybersecurity does not always require expensive technology or advanced technical knowledge. In support of the 2026 Cybersecurity Awareness Month theme, Securing the Next 250, this presentation focuses on practical behaviors individuals and small organizations can use to make themselves harder to compromise as cyber threats continue to evolve. Participants will learn the four essential behaviors highlighted in the presentation, keeping software updated, using strong and unique passwords with a password manager, enabling multifactor authentication, and recognizing and reporting phishing attempts. The session then expands into additional protections such as backups, encryption, logging and monitoring, incident reporting, and preparing for disruptions
